Hello friends. I hope you’re doing well. It’s midweek and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m looking forward to the weekend so we can continue to work in the yard. Hopefully the weather is going to cooperate.
But for today, I’m happy to be participating once again in the Seasons of Simplicity tour hosted by my sweet friend Krista. This week, we’re sharing summer DIY’s and I have an adorable Anthropologie gilded octopus knock off that will knock your socks off. lol . Just kidding. As a matter of fact, the copycat version doesn’t look exactly like the original but it’s still pretty cute.
I think it’s perfect for summer and it adds a little bit of bling to your decor.
Often times, when I’m creating a knock off , I forget to look at the inspiration photo and go off from memory and well, I guess my memory isn’t that great because it’s usually pretty different. Ha.
But how cute does this little guy look? BTW, that book is by my friend Kennesha and it’s the most beautiful book. The photography is incredible but the message is even better.
You can find the book HERE –
I made a video so you can see the process.
I love working with clay and I love the technique of using the gold leaf. I think it looks so realistic. As I type this and see the inspiration, I just realized I could have added brown paint to make it look more like the original, but I didn’t think of it until now. Of course !
What do you think? is this something you would ever try? Or would you rather just buy it?
Here are more amazing summer DIY’s from my friends. I hope you enjoy them.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Lucy, this is just so sweet. I’d have to agree with someone else who said they like your version better. I do as well. Loved your video too. I miss hearing your voice. This is gonna sound so funny but I went out for Mexican with the boys last night and our waitress reminded me so much of you. I told her that as well, which maybe she thought was weird. Ha! Ha! Anyway, I love this project so much.

Celebrate National Donut Day
Everyone loves donuts, there’s something about that delicious deep fried treat that brings a smile to everyone’s face. Donut day celebrates this wonderful treat, it’s history and a special holiday brought into being to honor a special group that arose during World War I. One of the little-known facts about the Donut is exactly what that well-known shape is called, read on, and maybe you’ll find out!

Lucy – so super cute! Question — how do you clean this when it gets dusty or dirty. I was wondering if you could make it so the octopus was removable for cleaning? Which $$ store did you find the glass. I have looked around here and can’t find or source. Just love this guy! Thanks. Penny

It’s a wonderful DIY project by a talented and so passionate expert. My sister has been accepted to the fashion course at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences. She’s so happy to work with the outstaning Austrian artists, bloggers, writers.

This is a great blog. I am not a native English speaker so I used to use a translator to read blogs like this. But after I found this tutor https://promova.com/tutors/american-english-tutor I was able to successfully read articles and blogs and understand everything. Of course, the level of my English is still far from perfect, but I plan to correct this and study as often as possible.
