Hello friends. We made it through Monday. It was so gloomy, rainy and cold that I wanted to crawl back in bed all day. But it was also the perfect day to get things done. It’s really weird how sometimes I’m really inspired
to get things done when it’s rainy.
But I digress, today I’m sharing a little behind the scenes into the styling of a fall mantel three ways.
As you might remember our mantel recently went through a makeover. You can see it HERE. In the process, we lost a lot of the mantel space. Which is fine
with me because I’m really leaning towards minimal and simple lately. I think that’s one of the reasons coming up with a mantel design that I like wasn’t as easy this time, because I felt everything was feeling too busy.
|I started with some of the amber jars that I had from a few years ago. I used them on THIS tablescacpe a couple of years ago and this fun basket from Article.
I don’t mind the way the mantel looks on its own, but I didn’t really like the way the shelves were shaping out. Now that I look at it again. It wasn’t too bad I guess.
Amber is such a great color for fall isn’t it?
Next, I took away the basket and added these two frames.
I took away the darker amber jar…
and added a third frame…
I took away the pumpkins from the shelves.
Not too bad but it still felt busy. I know, I know…
I finally decided to just take a bunch of little amber votives and I think this is my favourite look…
I still have to style the shelves to make them a little more ‘fall’ …
I love these because they look like I’ve collected them individually but they come in a nice little pack. I got them HERE.
They look so pretty when lit…
And even though it was super hot on the day I took this photo, I turned on the fireplace …:)
I love fall and how cozy it feels…
So there you go, a bit of the process of decorating the mantel. Do you have a favourite?
And now get ready for more beautiful inspiration from my friends below. A big thank you to my friend Krista for putting this hop together.

Thanks for sharing. I love how you placed the 3 frames overlapping each other. I never thought of that. But, I have one question, where did you purchase the gold circle wire basket that is holding your blankets? I want 1!!!
Thanks Angelina

Lucy,
As I reached the third mantel arrangement, I stopped and thought, “I like this one best.” Then I read you liked it best, too. 🙂 All are beautiful, but the warm glow of the votives in the amber glasses repeat the warm glow of the fire in the fireplace making everything FEEL like Fall.

I liked all the scenarios, but I loved the last one the best. I like simple too and the amber glass with flames behind them is just so lovely!

Hi Lucy, I never would have thought about using amber glass as the feature on a fall mantel vignette, how lovely!! I have a collection of varying shades of amber bottles, juice glasses, a couple of amber glass cruets and a pretty amber glass bowl. I’m starting on my mantel vignette first thing in the morning!
