Hello sweet friends. I hope your week is off to a great start. Before anything else, I’d like to send my love and prayers to the beautiful people of Texas. My heart has been broken since last week after Hurricane Harvey first touched down. I have been following social media closely and feel heartbroken and so helpless. But please know that we are all praying and rooting for you.
It has been so beautiful to see people come together in this time of need. Where people of every color, nationality and beliefs just want to help each other and where humanity and goodwill is winning.
I have to admit that it feels a little selfish to post at all, knowing that people are suffering but I also have always consider this little space a place to escape…
As I type this post, I soon realized that in the bible, wheat is the symbol of LOVE and CHARITY.
And what better time to show just that.
To make this little tealight , I wrapped some double sided tape along the bottom of the votive…
I then placed the wheat (or barley ?) all around on top of the tape…
And cut the excess…
Lastly, I wrapped some cotton cord around the bottom to hide the tape. For a more rustic look, I would use jute or even burlap.
I love how sweet this looks and specially during this time when we all need to be a light and illuminate others through love, charity and compassion.
Please note that I placed a battery operated light. However, I think that as long as you’re monitoring the tealight, it should be fine. It goes without saying, never leave a candle unattended.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

Pretty…sorry to be a downer, but looks like it could be a fire hazard.
I should have specified I used a battery candle, but it goes without saying that you should never leave a candle unattended. I have amended the post to reflect that. Thank you.
