Hello friends, I hope you’ve had a great week so far. Yesterday was the first day of summer and what better way to welcome summer than with a little tour.
I do have to admit that I have been feeling a little blah lately and trying to stay motivated has been a little difficult. I’m not sure if it’s all the rain and the gloomy weather so I am welcoming summer with wide open arms.
I moved things around again and as usual, I’m not sure how long it will stay this way but here is what our living room looks for now…
As usual, I stuck to my blues, whites and greens…
But I’ve also added a few brighter touches of pink. This fun pillow is in my shop and it makes me smile because it’s whimsical and unexpected.
And of course, I’ve been enjoying gorgeous peonies. Some from our own garden and the bright ones from the grocery store.
They make me so happy…:)
If you follow me on INSTAGRAM, then you might have seen this new sideboard I got from a sample sale. It was only $100 and it’s perfect for this space.
Nothing much has changed in the dining room, but I’m itching for some new chair covers, these are almost 9 years old and I’ve washed them so much that they’re looking sad.
I also changed the family room a bit and brought our blue rug and wooden table. I think it looks much better in person, but it doesn’t translate very well in photos…
Speaking of photos, I’ve been feeling like my photography has regressed or I’ve peeked and it’s really frustrating me and making me feeling discouraged.
I guess it’s just a matter of researching or really learning my camera. I’m not sure. 🙁
I’ve always been so glad that our home has so much light but at the same time, it makes it so difficult to photograph.
The way the rug glows makes me smile…ha.
It matches the gorgeous peonies perfectly.
Here are a few more photos of the family room.
I painted two of these a couple of weeks ago, you can find prints of it HERE.
I have also been working on some fun painting techniques lately and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you. Here is a little sneak peek..
So fun right? The bigger painting is acrylic and the smaller one is acrylic with translucent medium and it has a gorgeous texture. But I will share all the details with you next week.
In the meantime, I want to thank my friend Nina for hosting this blog hop.
Please don’t forget to visit the rest of the beautiful homes participating and THANK YOU for stopping by today.
I appreciate you more than you know…xo

Hi Lucy – I can’t begin to tell you how much I LOVE your home!!! It’s as if you are my long-lost twin because there isn’t a thing I would change! It is so timely seeing your touches of pink as I’ve been wanting to bring that color into my life. What I’m trying to say is that we usually avoid the more feminine colors because when we decorate, we are thinking of both sexes and tend to avoid these colors in case it looks too girly but lately, as I’ve gotten older, I’m thinking that we really should be decorating with our “hearts” and using colors that speak to us and make US happy. Life is very short and unpredictable and if we don’t decorate for ourselves now, then when do we?!! I’m drooling over the pink rug, love your paintings, your blue and white touches (I have quite a collection) and love the wooden table added to your white living room; it adds contrast and warmth to the room and a certain “casualness” that a highly polished, more formal wood just wouldn’t have done. By the way, your photography is excellent!

Hello Lucy. Well, your home looks ready for summer in the most serene yet crisp and tropical manner. Your flowers painting and bird pillow are really fantastic.
While it isn’t apparent to your readers, I do understand your frustration with your photography. I have a drawing I’ve been working on from a Japanese painting…for years. I just cannot seem to recreate one set of trees right. It’s the last thing I need to do to finish the drawing I actually love overall. Sometimes it takes time, or redirecting creative energy, to move past the feeling of lack of motivation. I need to get past whatever mental barrier I have to start selling my backlog of original art, so that I can start creating new pieces.
Take care and enjoy your exquisite summer home. Cheers, Ardith

You have made good use of the blah’s. Love the blue and pink accents. A definite advantage of having a neutral color palette. So nicely done as always.
