Good morning Craftberry Bush friends…I hope you’re all having a wonderful start to your day. It’s Alicia from A Burst of Beautiful and I am so happy to be with you again today.
It’s early evening and as I sit down to write this post, I am reflecting on the beautiful day that is coming to an end. We woke to rain clouds in the sky, which later gave way to sunshine and cool breezes. And I didn’t miss the start of a few stray leaves scattered across the ground, crunching underfoot. It truly felt like a crisp fall day. I know it will be the first of many coming our way with the changing of the seasons and I am always so happy to welcome autumn after a hot and muggy summer.
I am usually eagerly awaiting the arrival of fall…ready to slip back into boots and sweaters, trade my iced coffee for a steaming mug of chai tea and marvel at the changing colors all around us. But this year has been a little different, and today was the first day that I really felt like embracing the coming season.
I wandered around this morning clipping full hydrangea blooms, grasses and magnolia branches from the trees in our yard with the thought of arranging a simple fall centrepiece for our dining room table.
Lucy always inspires me, and her centerpieces are usually what get me every time. The centrepiece I created today was inspired by this beautiful creation.
I pulled this oversized lantern out of storage, along with a simple round woven tray and knew they would be the perfect compliment to this arrangement. I wanted to create something simple, yet beautiful, using only what I found in our own backyard.
I created a circle of hydrangeas around the inside of the lantern and nestled a faux white pumpkin in the middle. I placed a few extra sprigs of leafy branches and grasses to add dimension. I did the same thing inside of the tray, around the lantern.
At the last minute, I added a few sprigs of fresh oregano cut from our garden, which gives off the most beautiful scent.
It’s a happy little reminder that fall is just around the corner.
I hope you have a lovely day!
Alicia xo
