Hello sweet friends…I hope you had a nice weekend.
I wish I could tell you we had a relaxing weekend, but I’m sitting here surrounded by various unfinished projects and the sound of my poor hubby installing new floors in the basement. We’ve been so busy lately, and I truthfully don’t foresee a break any time soon.
That’s why today I’m excited to take a little break from the labor as I join a few of my friends in celebrating the launch of a brand new book Make Room For What You Love, by our friend Melissa from The Inspired Room.
When you love decorating or tackle your own share of DIY’s, it’s sometimes easy to become overwhelmed; whether it’s too many throw pillows or decor accessories or like in our current situation, unfinished renovations.
In spite of the messes and clutter that accumulates in daily life and the inevitable life-changes that bring so much disorder in the house, a home should be a sanctuary.
The book has many insightful ideas and helpful encouragement from Melissa, like how to clear out clutter to welcome in what best serves your family, or a way to effortlessly decide what to keep and what to let go of. But one of the things that resonated with me the most is how the book shows how to create more space in your home and schedule time for what brings you joy.
If you remember, I recently filmed my first video in which I used this corner of our bedroom as a makeshift art studio.
This corner usually holds a desk and most of the time goes unused, so this little space has become a reminder of how much joy painting brings to my life. Though it will eventually need to be put away, it is clear to me that in the near future, I will require a little studio space of my own where I can create.
I can’t wait to implement some of the other organization tips Melissa shares in her book.

Your paintings are lovely. I hope you will find a way to create a studio space for yourself. I recently sold my house which had a fabulous studio above the garage. At the top of my house hunting list was “good studio space with good natural light.” It took some looking but I found just what I needed. Now I’m just waiting for the closing date so I can move in & get back to my art. Good luck.
Your little studio space is lovely- as are your paintings! They are just so wonderful!! You definitely deserve to have your own studio space in the very near future so you aren’t confined to the bedroom. Keep creating joy- loved reading this post and looking thru your other blog posts.
Lucy, your corner is amazing. While it may not yet be the studio of your dreams, I would imagine seeing your beautiful artwork inspires you. It is all so beautiful. Thank you for being a part of this day with me and inspiring all of us to do what we love!
I just recently physically made a “crafting corner” in my apartment, but I feel like my lifestyle can use some movement, too. I’ll have to check this book out for help on how to do this!

love your art. I having to put a desk in my bedroom and I”m really dragging my feet about it,because I don”t want a desk in my room,because i feel it will take away from it being a relaxing place. Something will work out I”m sure. 🙂

Your paintings are beautiful. I know what you mean about needed your own space. I’m obsessed with having a studio out in our backyard. Someday, maybe my dream will come true!
Your paintings are beautiful! I love the space you’ve created for your work.
I love all your paintings! Do you know what some of them remind me of? The cottages were used to rent in RI on the beach or the places at Cape Cod where we stayed. They are summery, beachy, and fun! I always wanted to have my own studio to do my arts and crafts and now they make something called She Sheds. My problem is in the summer our backyard is very buggy and the bugs seem to just love me! Someday I will get one and I will invite you over and we can create together.
