Hello friends. I hope your week is off to a great start.
I’m excited about this project because it’s something I’ve been wanting to create for years.
So when Shauna asked me to be part of The One Item Project Challenge and told me that first item was going to be twigs,
I knew it was the perfect opportunity to create it.
I know she said twigs and I used driftwood but driftwood is technically twigs sanded down by the ocean, so it counts right?
To be honest, I had no clue how I was going to make it. The hardest part was to create the inner frame to hold the driftwood, but once I figured that out, the rest was a piece of cake. It just took some patience in trying to fit the pieces together as well as a lot of hot glue gun burns in the process.
But all well worth it.
We are fortunate enough to live close to the water where we can hunt for driftwood and I found the perfect pieces for the antlers. But you could recreate this piece with twigs as well.
I’m not sure if anyone would be interested in a tutorial, but if you are, I took some photos as I went along.
I’m pretty smitten with him and it just seemed appropriate to dress him in a pretty little plaid scarf.
I can’t wait to incorporate this guy in our Christmas decor this year.
Here are the rest of the projects created by some of my friends using twigs.
Aren’t they great?

Um, this is absolutely incredible. I have a TON of driftwood I have collected and would love a tutorial, though it looks pretty difficult. What did you use as the base for it??
Outstanding! I didn’t think you could outdo yourself but you did. 🙂 Yes to a tutorial!
How awesome is that? So creative and inspiring Lucy!
Hi Lucy, would love the tutorial, you said you took some photos of the process? How may we find them? Love the neck scarf…pulls out his personality!! LOL! Looking forward to hearing about where we can find tutorial!!
I would love a tutorial on this. I am really into decor such as this right now, and would love to create something instead of purchasing. 🙂 great job .
Just found your site for this lovely driftwood deer head. I would love to see the pictures/tutorial on this. I don’t live by the ocean or beach but we have enough twigs and branches in our back yard that maybe I could do something similar. My husband had asked (jokingly) if I want a real deer head with antler and I said NO immediately, I love them only from a distance. So yes, faux wood deer antler is my friend. Thank you for this beautiful idea!
Hello! Did you ever make that tutorial?
