When I was younger, my husband and I visited the United Kingdom.
On one particular day, we ventured into Wales and drove
throughout the countryside and into the mountains, where I fell in love with
the beautiful architecture surrounded by green meadows.
Poppy fields in the distance and rose gardens of every
shade flirting with each other, I was in awe with the gorgeous
gardens that you can easily spot throughout the U.K.
And of course, the romance of beautiful fresh
bouquets of flowers being sold in every corner.
I fondly remember my husband’s late nana, working in her garden
during the wee hours of the morning as the scent of blooms filled the air.
A couple of weeks ago, I was transported back in time as I
stepped into a suite filled with the gorgeous line of bluebellgray.
Pillows covered in colorful blooms…
Blankets adorned with gorgeous garden like prints…
…and chairs displaying artistry like no other.
Sharing all of this beauty with Canada was the vision of
Arren Williams, Creative Director of Home at The Hudson’s Bay Co.
The printing methods used enable every brushstroke and colour to be captured, enhancing the feel of the hand-painted design. The pieces have a sense of provenance and the designer behind the product, adding to the feeling of exclusivity.
or ‘Fi’ to her friends and fans. That sweet and warm smile
should give you an indication of Fi’s soft and gentle demeanor.
I had the honour of being invited to have “tea with Fi” and while I went armed
with several questions, we ended up having the most casual and carefree
conversation. Although we had just met, it felt like I was speaking to an old friend.
We shared our passion for art and the fear that sometimes
comes from exposing our art to the world. “Exposing your
art is like exposing your heart and soul”, she says.
What I never told her was she was one of the first people who
inspired me to share my art here on the blog, and perhaps that’s why
meeting her in person was an experience I will truly never forget.
Fi’s passion for what she does in palpable and this beautiful line
is proof of it. She believes in supporting the local economy
and local artisans, as she shares her inspiration with the world.
Fi also believes in making a connection with the people who
buy her designs. Each pattern begins as an original
painting and seeing the creative process was mesmerizing.
Fi surrounds herself with people she trusts, consulting with them when
making important decisions, as she sees this dream of hers come true.
Wendy Gilmour is part of Fi’s team and was equally lovely. Wendy – who is
also an artist – shared that working for bluebellgray is like working with family.

Seeing Fi’s dream come true is not only inspiring
to me, but makes me hopeful of my own dreams.
Thank you so much Fi, for your warmth, beautiful
soul and for sharing your beautiful passion with the world.
Until we meet again sweet friend.
