Today the kiddies and I decided we were going to
try and make some fun chocolate surprise eggs.
There is a little bit of a learning curve, but once you
get the hang of it, it’s quite easy and a fun activity.
It’s always fun to get messy in the kitchen, especially when it’s with
chocolate, right? Here is how to make Easter chocolate surprise eggs.
Materials:
White chocolate candy melts
Colour candy melts of your choice
Small candies or toys to fit inside eggs
Instructions:
1. Melt chocolate in microwave in 30 second intervals (to make pastel colours, mix white candy melts with a different colour of choice
2. Fill mould with melted chocolate (not shown)
3. Flip mould upside down and allow chocolate to drip onto parchment paper (you can reuse the chocolate)
4. Place in freezer for two minutes
If the chocolate is cold enough, the mould should pop out with ease.
I found if the layer is too thin, the chocolate is too fragile and will easily break, so
I decided to do 2 layers of chocolate to make it a little thicker and more durable.
5. Place egg shell back onto mould and fill with candy or small toys as desired
6. With a clean brush, brush chocolate onto the edge of the shell and place a second shell on top
7. Place in freezer for 1 minute
8. Take egg out of mould. In some of them, you will notice some of the edges unfilled.
9. Brush more chocolate around the edges and spread it with your fingers
And there you have it – a cute little surprise which I think
would be so fun for a birthday party or baby shower.
