Hello! I’m so glad you are here as I’ve been looking forward
to today all week! Not only because it’s Friday, but because
it’s my turn to invite you in to tour our home at Christmas.
If this is your first time here, welcome and please make yourself at home.
If you’re an old friend, welcome back! It’s always good to have you.
I’m stop number 30, meaning we are almost at the end of this incredible
and inspiring tour. Have you been swooned away like I have? I hope so.
This is my second year participating in this incredible
tour and I feel humbled to join such talented
friends like my sweet Beth from Unskinny Boppy.
Did you have a chance to visit her beautiful home?
If not, please stop by as she is stop 29.
A couple of days ago, I shared part 1 of our home (you can see it here)
and today, I’m excited to share more of our home with you…
Come on in…
The Front Entry/Mudroom
Hubby recently built this little space for us. It serves as
a place to hold our keys, hang our coats and keep our shoes.

This year, I felt it important to make our home feel warm,
cozy and filled with the true meaning of Christmas. This, after I
spoke of feeling frustrated and angry at not being able to afford
“new” and “better” Christmas decor, struggling with my own wants.
I realized I had been overlooking the true reason we celebrate
Christmas and so I now had a mission – to make our home as beautiful
as I possibly could, with things I already owned or had made myself.

Simplicity sometimes makes grand impressions.
It’s these simple touches that make your house into a home…
Our Living Room
Our Living Room
As soon as you walk in, our fluffy wonderful tree will greet you. This year, I
chose a woodland/cabin theme as I wanted our home to feel inviting and warm.
Like the welcoming feeling of a warm roaring fire
in a log cabin after a fun day of playing in the snow.
Again, making simple displays that welcome the season with JOY.
Did you notice the garland on the tree?
it’s not really a garland but scarves from the Dollar store.
Our Dining Room
As you can see, our home has an open concept, with
the dining room and living room sharing one large space.
No fancy table setting here…just a sweet and simple cocoa bar.
Mugs with cozies in an old homemade fruit crate.
I played with different textures and patterns
and found the red is what keeps it cohesive.
and found the red is what keeps it cohesive.
Speaking of red, I carried those pops of red into the hutch.
And by simply placing some fresh fruit, greens and wild berries, you can
create a cohesive display without having to spend any or very little money.
Our Family Room
Here is a quick look at our chalk wall, which I’m
sure you can imagine I have a lot of fun with.
Across from the chalk wall, is our stairway (which still needs to be stained).
Once you turn the corner, you enter our family room, where you’ll
often find this guy (when I’m not chasing him around trying to stop him
from eating our daughter’s stuffed animals). This is his spot, which he’ll
claim – even if someone is sitting there – by parking himself on their lap.
This area is where I like to sit with my phone or read a book. Some
of our most important family discussions have happened in this room.
I think it’s one of my favourite rooms in the house.
If you are new here, you may not know one of my
passions is painting and particularly watercolor painting
(I painted these cards last year).
And finally, you get a peek into my white vintage Christmas tree.
Can you believe I purchased it for less than $30 at our local thrift store?

This year, I decided to use blue and reds, even though I second
guessed my decision as I’m usually more neutral. But I think the gray
also serves as a neutralizer, therefore making the colours not so
overpowering…at least that’s what I’m saying to convince myself.

If I can be honest, I’ll tell you that I am the worst gift wrapper ever
and making these fake presents semi presentable took great effort!
and making these fake presents semi presentable took great effort!
I will have more details on the tree later next
week, but for now, here is a little peek…
I made these feathers using air drying clay and will have a
tutorial for you in the days to come. If you follow me on Instagram,
you may have already seen a short video of me making them.
Remember I said this year was mostly homemade? Well, I even tackled
my fear of the sewing machine and made 5 pillows (these are 2 of them).
my fear of the sewing machine and made 5 pillows (these are 2 of them).
And there he is again, this time on my brand new pillows…
A Christmas dove. How fitting that a beautiful white
dove represents peace and it’s the bird of the season.

And here is our mantel.
This is easily one of my simplest mantels to date.
Although always insecure of my mantels, I do love its
simplicity. I made the trees out of cereal boxes, painted
them and sprinkled a little turquoise glitter on them.

The stockings were made from the same toile as the pillow.
And of course the little mini that means so much to our daughter
as it was one of the last gifts given to her by my late father-in-law.
That pretty much wraps up this part of our home tour,
but I will be sharing more of our home in days to come.
I hope you enjoyed your short stay and that you will join me again soon.
Please make sure you visit Susie at her lovely home for Stop #31.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
much love,
I will be sharing our home at Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday house Linky party, come join us…:)
