Well here it is – my 2013 fall mantel.
It is so, so simple. Containing some old books, a few dried botanical and some
pumpkins, I even re-used the same book page background from a couple of years
ago (here), which is just a thin piece of plyboard covered in dictionary pages.
To be honest, this is only one of several versions
(I will share others throughout next week)
As with all my mantels, I try to convey a story.
This mantel speaks of summer and trying to preserve its beauty.
This mantel speaks of summer and trying to preserve its beauty.
I used the same old mirror frame from my late summer mantel
to frame some of the dried leaves and flowers I had
collected or pressed at various times throughout the summer.
to frame some of the dried leaves and flowers I had

Some made over pumpkins from last year (I couldn’t find any
baby boos in my area yet), some dried Queen Anne’s Lace and a
couple of oak leaves from my parent’s backyard. I think it makes the
perfect fall arrangement and goes to show you don’t have to spend a lot
(or any) money to pretty up your home from season to season.
Admittedly, I have doubts every time I post a mantel.
I fully appreciate my mantel decorating style is not ‘typical’;
perhaps even a little over the top for some. But I think my art influences
the outcome and the mantels become art displays; as opposed to
a decorated mantel, thus breaking all the interior design rules.
But I would also like to think that you could
spot a Craftberry Bush mantel by just the style.

In this case, the art and masterpiece
is nature itself. Beautiful and perfect.

See what I mean about beautiful?
Queen Anne’s lace – beautiful when in full bloom

More hydrangeas to coordinate with the rest of this area in our home.
Old books – a staple in every Craftberry Bush mantel.
And there you have it – my fall mantel for 2013.
I hope there are some details that inspire you in your own decor.
