Last fall we planted our first Hydrangeas and this summer they bloomed.
It’s funny that I planted them to be able to display them inside our
home and yet it hurts to cut them. Does that ever happen to you?
home and yet it hurts to cut them. Does that ever happen to you?
But displaying them on our table also makes me so happy.
I guess it’s a great ambivalent problem to have.
Such a beautiful flower I wish would last for an entire year.

I understand your sentiments. Sometimes I don’t like cutting them because of their beauty on the bush, but I want you to know I am thankful that you did, because this post added beauty to my day. You have such creative ways of sharing everything. Every visit here inspires me.

Lucy, I plant certain flowers just to cut them down, I guess I have never thought much about it. Although I can’t seem to grow hydrangeas. Maybe if I could I would think twice about cutting them.

Oh you know you should plant more, so that you can have plenty to enjoy inside and out. Beautiful photos, sigh, just beautiful.

I’ve been lurking around on your blog for a long time and I love everything you write and post! You’re such a talented, beautiful person!
I love cut flowers! But I always find it hard to watch them die inside in a vase. It’s as though I robbed them of a proper and natural death. I feel a bit of guilt because I know they would have been pretty for longer if I hadn’t cut them. But then I remember how happy they made our home and realize they weren’t cut in vain :]

I too have this problem. I can roam through my garden picking flowers to make bouquets to give as gifts but for my self I have tiny glass vases that hold single blooms. Lol

Just a helpful tip for hydrangea lovers. Invest in a little alum. When you cut the stem immediately dip the cut end in alum. You will enjoy the flowers longer. There is a hot water technique as well, but I haven’t tried it.

Keeping in touch can also be used when someone is nearby, but you still want to stay in touch with them. Stay in touch is typically said to someone who is far away.
