The warm breeze of Summer caresses our hair and like magic turns
us into free spirited beings. Early morning wake ups no longer
matter and staying up late to the light of the moon is the new norm.
In the distance, fireflies light up the meadows making it seem like
the sky has touched the ground. We venture into the darkness
and capture light in our hands. Another item crossed off our list.
The Summer belongs to lingering conversations by a campfire,
sandy toes and sticky marshmallow fingers. Cool walks
in the shady forest and picnic blankets filled with laughter.
Trips to the zoo and melting ice cream dripping down our chins.
The Summer belongs to my children, the dreamers, and I, the memory maker.
Every year around this time, I become a little anxious about my ability to keep
this blog going while not jeopardizing time with our children during their summer
break. And every year, I conclude my priority will always be making memories
for our children. No blog statistic, DIY project, or magazine feature will ever compare
to the project of Motherhood and the best job of all – me being their memory maker.
I will continue to post as often as time permits, but
trust you understand it will not be as frequent as usual.
In the absence of posts, I would love to share our Summer with you
much love,
My son and I made this cute little beach sign with driftwood we found last year.
We simply used hot glue to glue onto an old plank of wood.
I love it and can’t wait to get out there and go searching for more driftwood.

I LOVE your poem! You have me inspired to not only write now, but make an awesome sign, and be the best mommy I can be. You are right.. we are the memory makers. Thank you for posting this.. Have a great summer with your babies! Jen

Lucy- You go make those sweet memories with your kids-They grow up so fast and you can never get that time back. Blogging, however, will be here waiting for you-and so will all of us! Blessings. I am going to make one of those signs to nail to our tree down by the beach….now why didn’t I think of that? xo Diana

Enjoy and treasure your time with your children, before you know it they will be out on their own and you will have an empty nest. But you will have these wonderful memories and no regrets that you didn’t spend enough time with them. They will also treasure these memories as they grow up.
