These feelings make me consider abandoning this little blog as the pressure takes away my joy. I appreciate it is a self imposed pressure that I struggle with and I am sorry to sound like Debbie Downer. Especially when everyone else seems to be ready to take on the blog world.
In the mean time….
I started to take down all our Christmas decorations today, including the mantel. It feels refreshing to see a change in the scenery.
I just threw together something quickly, so I doubt it will remain the way it is. I love those cute little trees left over from Christmas on discount at the grocery store. I asked hubby for three, he brought home 8…ha. I also need to figure out if the chalkboard stays or goes.
As I started to put away our Christmas decorations, I realized I had purchased some of them individually as well having made lots of them and therefore not all had their proper boxes to store safely in. So before I take a little break, here is an easy storage idea for your ornaments…
Miss Kitty says
Hi Lucy! Thanks for that great idea for storing Christmas ornaments until next year. I had to take a blogging break 2012 for family issues too. I missed blogging but the blog was still here when I came back. Very pretty picture of you and your husband!

Lucy, I have felt the SAME way lately! It took me a good week off to get back in the blogging spirit, too! I think it is so good and important to let ourselves have breaks when we need them. You are awesome, and I hope you have a wonderful time off!

Hi Lucy. I hope you are back soon, but I certainly understand your need for a little break. Know that we love you and are hear waiting for you.

Good to listen to yourself…seems you’re getting a clear sign that it’s not time to return yet. When the motivation hits again you’ll know you’re ready! Hugs!!

That is a great picture of you and your hubby, Lucy! Love how you potted your little trees. I have one and I have to find a small pot to transfer it into. Enjoy your break. I have no planned posts yet {I’m a blank right now}, so I understand the pressure you feel.

I know exactly what you mean. Shan and I took off last week and this week. Sometimes you just need some time to recoup, breathe, and let yourself start fresh. There have been countless times I feel like giving up but then I remember how my blog has pushed me to learn more, get creative, and chronicle all the exciting things (and the not so exciting things) in life and it helps me to keep going 🙂 I hope you have a restful week! -Jen

Lucy, I love your simple mantel and pinned it already! I definitely understand your need for a break and to find what inspires you. Your blog always makes me smile; your style is just amazing.
Happy New Year!

I think it about the transition. I have felt it as well. Not about blogging but just life itself. We build up so much excitement for the holidays and puff it is gone. Hard to readjust.
Angela says
I get it! Just be YOU and everything else will follow. It’s not a competition and no one wants to read a blog that just like all of the others. Put on some headphones with some inspiring music and write about whatever it is that gets YOU excited.

Sometimes a bit of a blogging break is what we all need. Enjoy the rest of the week with your family! Happy New Year!

I SO feel you! I’ve had the same sense of feeling COMPLETELY overwhelmed after Christmas!

Hi lucy I feel exactly the same way since Christmas I feel like i have lost my inspiration im sure a break will get you back to normal and you shouldn’t doubt your blog your projects, posts and photos are always amazing xxx

I do the same thing for Christmas decor storage…well, sorta. I don’t drink, but I will absolutely go to the liquor store and ask for boxes. The boxes are very sturdy, and come with essentially the same inserts that you made. They’re very handy for moving, too.
Also, I know this is sad but my inspiration for making pretty things and blogging has been almost nil for a long time. I use to love it; not sure what’s wrong with me. I enjoy your beautiful blog, though.
Susan @ homeroad.net says
I’m hearing you Lucy… I’m losing my mojo too…. I have 3 more posts to put up and then I’m out… I have to think of some new and exciting things…. Good luck to both of us! Your trees are beautiful and I like the chalkboard too!

Enjoy your blogging time off! Maybe u will find some answers….
Great idea for storage. If u shop at Costco, they hAve a ton of wine bottle seperators just like the ones u made free for the taking. I never thought of it before seeing this post! Will have to take some next time.

Lucy-I so understand. When something ceases to be joyful and becomes a job it is time to step back. I love you dearly and I don’t FB/text/Twitter so I won’t be able to keep up with you that way but just know that I am thinking about you and praying for you and your beautiful family. You and your hubby make a gorgeous couple. He isn’t looking for an old married girlfriend is he? Hey- just thought I’d ask!;>) Love ya- Diana

I really love your blog, especially your photos!! They’re always stunning!!( and would be dreadfully disapointed if you quit blogging!!)

I think we can all understand your feelings… and understand the need for a break. I was feeling the same sort of pressure this past year and don’t even have near the amount of followers as you!
I’ve decided to post when I can, what I can, no pressure. I’m a mom and wife and I work full-time outside of the home – I can’t give all of my family time away to doing tutorials and special holiday posts for the sake of a blog that is meant to chronicle my life anyway, right?!
Take a break – we’ll all still be here when you’re ready to return.

Hi Lucy,
This may be my first time leaving a comment but I thought this post deserved one … First off, I think your blog is amazing! I love the sincerity in your writing and I clearly feel that you always write from your heart. I think Rhonda who just posted before me is on to something … post when you can, what you can and don’t feel any pressure. I totally understand how all you great bloggers must fizzle out at times … I simply read all your beautiful blogs and I have trouble keeping up. Please take the time you need to rejuvenate yourself and all your loyal readers will be here waiting for you to return. Sheila S., a fellow Cdn.

You could take 36 pictures of a banana and they would still be amazing and inspiring. Or you could just keep posting pictures of your gorgeous self and I would still come read your blog. Enjoy your week, and recharge 🙂

Lucy,
I am not a blogger,(only read). Yours is my all time favorite, I always feel peace and love when I come here and I always leave with an amazing amount of inspiration. I would totally understand your need for rejuvenation, just know that you would be greatly missed. That being said I can step back and wait patiently. Your lovely spirit shines through in all you do, you are a blessing.

Just one week? I had to take months off from my barely 1 year old blog, it really gets to you, especially when you feel the need to constantly do something to your home, in order to post it. I totally understand you, hope you get the rest and inspiration you deserve, I’m sure it will come to you sooner than later. Enjoy your family.

I too love that picture of you and your husband. Models you are! And my husband does the same thing when I ask him to pick something up for me, he comes home with more than I asked the “just in case” attitude. You are always inspiring to me, whether you post once a week or everyday. I would rather have you be inspired than post because you are suppose to {like I see other blogs frequently do, and it’s annoying} I actually just did a post today on some of the blogs that have me inspired to do things from reading their blogs, and guess who I included? Happy New Year Lucy!

I think it is so overwhelming reading some of the goals everyone is posting around blog land. I felt like just getting to 2013 with my head up and my blog in tact was goal enough for awhile 🙂
I decided that most readers would much rather me post something that I was truly invested in versus putting something out there just because I was “supposed” to.

My sweet friend, you are perfect just as you are… you don’t need to worry about being better! I hope you enjoy your little break… visiting your blog is always a highlight for me.

When blogging takes away your joy, it’s time to take a break. Blogging should be about giving us a glimpse at the creativity and joy you experience in your life. You are so beautiful and creative and contagious … don’t feel pressure to be better, because you’re amazing just the way you are. 🙂

Lovely article. We urge people to have a look at storage solutions for stuff you do not really want to throw away, but store in a unit (Self storage) to make some space in your living areas.
Storman software, used by leading storage facilities, is an EASY STORAGE SOLUTION – in the cloud.
Emilia Davies says
I would also vouch for Kinnovis self storage software if you run your own self storage facility. We recommend for larger items storing them in a self storage facility.
