A wise old owl sat in an oak,
The more he heard, the less he spoke;
The less he spoke, the more he heard;
Why aren’t we all like that wise old bird?
The more he heard, the less he spoke;
The less he spoke, the more he heard;
Why aren’t we all like that wise old bird?
Wisdom sometimes comes to you as life lessons. It is up to you whether or not you want to treasure that wisdom, learn from it and pass it on, or ignore it and let it pass you by.
According to a 2001 report of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), roughly 1.5 million tons of plastic are expended in the bottling of 89 billion liters of water each year.
The amount of plastic recycling is down to 19% in 2003 from 53% in 1994, most of which can be blamed on the low rate of recycling water bottles.
Only about 13% of water bottles are recycled, leaving tens of millions to go to landfills and become waste. Simply recycling will help to keep plastic water bottles out of landfills.
Sometimes I picture God with his head hanging down with dissapointment, and asking , “what have you done to your beautiful home, I lovingly created for you?”
To me, loving God also means loving his creation. I pray that he gives me the wisdom to appreciate and do my part in taking care of this beautiful place called Earth.
I wish you a beautiful day!
much love,
Lucy
Well said, Lucy! The owl is beyond my artistic scope but OOHHH the apple and pumpkin. Really, too cute!
Can you please tell me which colour did you use for painting.
These are all so cute!! I love when we can recycle and make something fun! I’m bookmarking the page right now. You’re wonderful!
This is great! I love it!
Love this wise old owl. I try to recycle all that I can.
Ruth
Only YOU would come up with that! Is that the cutest bottle owl you ever saw, or what? You weren’t using that soda (from the bottle) for a mixer for rum were you? Just askin’ – Cuz I have looked at a lot of those bottles in my life and never saw an owl in ANY of them! And your little “presentation” of apple is amazing! Love it- love you! xo Diana
This needs to be said. Thank you, Lucy.
And yes, I love the pumpkin!
I love the owl… He’s adorable! The apple and pumpkin are super clever, too.
Wow! I am so impressed! what a great way to use the plastic bottle!
Simply amazing!!
Cecilia
How cute are those!! Just adorable!
Those are seriously cute!
I just want to say how much I love your work and words. It’s like you are speaking to my soul. I just started following some blogs and am so excited to have found you. I went through all of your old posts and think your family is so lucky to live such a beautiful life. Looking forward to your next post.
That owl is so stinkin cute. I am going to try that.
I always love your creations! This happens to be AMAZING, not just because I love owls, but because it looks great. These remind me of the penguins you made in the past…all adorable.
So cute and fun! The leaves on the book pages look especially beautiful, too–did you make those?
Recycling IS a great way to take care of this earth that isn’t ours. 🙂
Visiting from Centsational Girl!
Wow! Such creative ideas!
I’m filled with awe when I remember that God didn’t HAVE to make the world beautiful… Lilacs don’t have to smell as sweet as they do. Sunlight doesn’t have to stream down from the clouds in shafts of heavenly light. Tree branches don’t have to weave lace patterns against the sky.
But He CHOSE to create these beautiful things… to display His goodness, because He loves us and wants us to savor the beauty of His creation. When I think of these things, I wonder how we can do anything but respect His creation and be good stewards of our Father’s world.
Thank you for sharing your words of beauty and these lovely, seasonal up-cycling projects. Both have inspired me.
That is so creative and cute! Thanks for sharing. I’ve posted on my blog too with a link back to you.

Hi Lucy! This is such a wonderful idea! We have an excess of bottles and electronic junks already I think this is just one of the ways how to get creative with it.
PS. What paint did you use for the oil? Did you spray it with a fixative to let the paint stay? Thanks, please let us me know how to do this step by step. Thank you!

I love the owl. COuld go a step farther and add outside layer of paper clay to it and have a very permanent and more paintable surface. Paper mach owl!
march09 if you get them together tape together with transparent tape. Put a thin layer of paper clay or paper mache pulp over all and let it air dry. The paper mache or paper clay will hold it together when dry.
espetacular.
Idéias brilhantes, de uma incrível mente brilhante!

Realmente nós não cuidamos da nossa casa…
Será que um dia isto mudara…bjs
love the leaves on the book pages… thanks for the inspiration for my fall banner! (the little mennonite)
Interesting that all of these crafts we see posted on various site, lead us to places like this that never really have the instructions. Several people often claim to have designed the crafts but they all have the same photos and no one shares the instructions. Hmmm…..

Wow, these are very cool ideas for how plastic bottles can be used. I’ll show my daughter and if she likes it, we’ll do a few of these on the weekend! Thank you for the idea!
