There is something about the Super Bowl that makes me want to act like a guy. To put on a pair of comfy sweats, lounge on the couch and eat the greasiest, artery clogging, delicious junk food I could get my hands on. Oh, and if I drank beer…yeah, I would have one or two of those too.
But unfortunately, that’s where my testosterone runs out. You see, when I walk down to the basement and see hubby’s massive TV smack dab in the middle of the wall, a surge of estrogen takes over. All I see is a decor blunder. I instantly want to rearrange the room, find a more discreet home for the TV, re-upholster the manly leather couch with white linen and paint the walls with Benjamin Moore ballet white. I want to place beautiful aged decor here and there and fill it with the smell of lavender……………………(can you hear the screeching of the french music record stopping?).
One of the many beauties of marriage is learning to compromise (we’ve been together for 20 years and a we’re still learning). Now I know how much boys love their toys and the need to have a ‘mancave’ and blah, blah, blah, so I happily contribute to the testosterone filled little space in our home. And I know in my heart that if I wanted to turn the basement into my french cottage dream room, he would (begrudgingly?) be right there helping me.
But this husband of mine is wise, and in his wisdom he has been looking at corner TV stands. That way, the TV is not the focal point of the room as we can move it to the corner and install the fireplace we had always originally planned to have. Not only do corner TV stands save space, but unlike dressers, corner TV stands are specifically designed, so all of the various cables and attachments that go along with the DVD player, stereo surround system and game consoles, etc are nicely tucked away. Now that’s compromising!!
In the mean time, we are going to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday manly style (the way it should be).
And in the spirit of the Super Bowl, pizza, chili and nachos….the nice folks at CSN are providing one of my lucky readers a
With over 200 unique sites, they carry just about everything (including manly decor and chip bowls). Take a look at their site and start shopping…you might be the winner!
This is how you can win:
1. Please leave a message below and let me know if you have or will attend a Super Bowl party.
2. You don’t need to be a follower to enter the contest but while you’re here, take a look around and if you like what you see and decide to become one, please leave a separate comment letting me know as this will give you two entries.
3. Pick up your slice of pizza and cross your fingers that you win!
Good luck guys!!!!! I will announce the winner on Friday, February 18th.
(Please note: CSN only ships to Canada and the U.S. so this contest is not unfortunately open to any other countries…sorry).
much love,
Lucy

We had a “souper bowl” party at church after Sunday school this morning… they sold soup, all you can eat and the money went to our youth group going on a missions trip this summer. That was our super bowl party. Thanks, Amy
