Dear November,
You have arrived. I would love to welcome you with open arms but your cold winds have bared my trees of their leaves and the flowers in my garden cannot endure your frosty nights.
B
ut alas, I say hello with a smile as I know your cold days will make me seek the refuge of our cozy home and the company of my loved ones. So, hello November, come on in and stay for a while. It has been an unusually warm October here in Ontario and the mums are still looking healthy. Unfortunately, as soon as the temperature drops at night they will wilt. But before they do, why not take advantage of these beautiful and sturdy flowers by making them into your showcase centrepiece? They would look so beautiful at your Thanksgiving table or just around the house.
I have put together 4 different vignettes to show you the versatility of this type of flower arrangement.
We’ll call it ‘a gift for all occasions’.
Supplies
Flowers
Floral Foam
Ribbon
I picked a few mums from my planter outside
I chose those with sturdy stems and stripped off the leaves
I cut a square piece of floral foam and placed
it in water until it was completely saturated
it in water until it was completely saturated
I then placed the mums one by one all around
the five sides of the cube until you have something
that looks like this (please excuse the picture)
Decorate your ‘present’ with a ribbon and
other embellishments to match the occasion
This is my fall present to you….
I changed the ribbon to a sweet baby blue for a Baby Boy shower
The little bunny was a present from my husband (years ago)
when we were dating. I dressed him up with a blue ribbon.
Brought some matching mugs to make the entire set up cohesive
This would be a beautiful centrepiece for a little girl’s shower or tea party
I brought some items from my daughter’s room
The canvas in the back is something I had painted for
Isabella’s room, but you can utilize old picture frames
with scrap booking paper with colours matching your theme.
I love the little girl table
This was my interpretation of a country Christmas. This is just one
interpretation of a Christmas vignette as all of my Christmas decor remains
in storage (but it’s just a matter of time before we’ll be pulling it out).
Can you just imagine what you can do? An entire cube decorated with red
berries? Or miniature pine cones? Oh the craftberries are endless!
Here is a close look at my most recent craftberry. It’s a white
cotton pine cone. I’m delighted how it turned out, and although
they are very time consuming to make, it was worth it!
Here is the arrangement without a ribbon. It is so soft and romantic.
By the time I was done, the flowers were feeling a little sad. I decided to
just leave them alone but they’re still looking beautiful on my coffee table.
Hope you enjoyed!
Wishing you a beautiful 1st of November!
much love,
Lucy

I was wondering where I could find directions for the white pinecone. All my holiday decorations are in cream and white. Thanks.
