Good morning friends, it’s Alicia from A Burst of Beautiful. I hope you are enjoying your summer and making the most of this beautiful season. I am excited to be here today and sharing a little piece of my heart with you.
I truly believe “home is where the heart is”, (I talk a little bit about this in our m first YouTube video), and it is the sentiment behind this age-old saying that sparked the beginning of our blog.
Creating a warm and welcoming home is so important to us. We want to foster a space that is not only beautiful, but that feels inviting, secure and nurturing.
We want it to be a place that is always a safe haven for our family, a place to unwind, relax and enjoy one another. A place to truly be ourselves.
And it is our hope that our guests will feel the same way. We want our home to be a place that reflects our family and the love and memories that we have built here.
So, it was with these thoughts that we started A Burst of Beautiful, a place to share and inspire everything related to creating that feeling of home.
Through the years I have learned a lot about creating a home and what makes it a place that family and friends what to gather in. So, today I want to share this advice with you, and let you in on my top 5 tips for creating an inviting home.
Let Your Personality Shine Through
Your home should be a reflection of you and your family. So follow your heart and fill it with the things you love and that make you smile. If you stick to this one “rule” I promise, you will always feel happy in your home.
For example, I love farmhouse style. We dream of someday owning a cozy, little farmhouse nestled in the countryside and living a simple life and our home greatly reflects that. We have decorated our home in a soothing, neutral color palette with natural elements and added character with both new and old items that are reminiscent of life on a farm.
Add Warmth with Textiles
One of the easiest ways to create a sense of comfort and coziness is with textiles. I am always buying new pillows and throws to add to our home, I don’t think you can ever have too many (my husband might have a different opinion though – haha!).
There is something so comforting about wrapping yourself in a cozy blanket, whether you’re curling up to watch a movie, get lost in a book or chat with your girlfriends over a cup of tea.
I always make sure I have extra pillows and throws throughout our house for just this. Whether you’re in the living room, bedroom, nursery or guest room you’ll always find a supply of pillows and blankets to keep the chill away or curl up for a quick catnap. And don’t forget the patio, a warm knit blanket is perfect for keeping warm on those cool summer nights.
Display Favorite Family Memories
Displaying cherished family memories is another wonderful way to let your personality shine through in your home.
My favorite way to do this is with family photos. Nick and I both love photography and we love capturing and showing off those magical and candid shots whenever we can.
Gallery walls are perfect for showing off photos, they are relatively inexpensive, but make a big impact. We have gallery walls in our dining room and stairway were we can rotate photos often.
Memories don’t just have to be recalled through photos. There are endless ways to remember and honor family memories and traditions – your little one’s first tiny sleeper displayed in a shadow box, a piece of furniture passed down from generation to generation, a collection of seashells gathered on your last beach vacation. Use your imagination and display those items that hold meaning to your family.
Fresh Flowers & Greenery Add Life
This is a quick and easy tip. A vase filled with fresh flowers or a few potted plants will instantly add life and color to your space, making it feel inviting and alive.
Always keeping bouquets of fresh flowers in your home could be expensive, but it doesn’t have it be. Turn to your garden to clip seasonal flowers or take a walk through the country and collect a handful of wildflowers. A simple arrangement is all you need to make a room feel happy.
Serve a Simple Meal
Food has a funny way of making us feel certain emotions, and it’s often associated with sentimental value or memories. It’s very easy to feel completely content and happy after a delicious meal, so it is something we value a lot around our home.
Every night we gather family-style around our large farmhouse table and eat simple, family-friendly recipes (see some of our favorites here) made with fresh ingredients, likely from our garden. Okay, not every night, sometimes it’s takeout pizza ;). But the important part is we spend time together as a family, sharing about our day and simply talking.
It’s important to set aside time to reconnect with one another and enjoy each other’s company. In our world, it is so easy to get lost in the shuffle – pressured by the responsibilities of work, after school activities and the constant need to be connected through technology – that it’s easy to forget about the people standing right in front of you. It’s about creating that nurturing and safe environment I talked about earlier, so set that time aside for just you and your family.
I hope you found this advice helpful in creating a space that is inviting and welcoming for you and your family.
Have a beautiful day!

The concept of “comfort” is different for everyone. This is something personal. Thanks for sharing! The project of the staircase has matured in my head for a long time, I wanted it to be as functional as possible, divide the space and so that a spacious storage of things could be organized under the stairs. Stairs recapping is not a simple matter, it is better to trust the professionals.

Thank you! In fact, the pleasant interior design of your home can be in small details. I love to add luxurious things to a minimalist and light interior. For example, bathroom furniture like this one can help you make the whole room more stylish.

In many ways, updating your home always depends on its size. Mobile homes need a special smart layout, especially if you have a small space, you need to think it over properly so that the house turns out to be cozy and roomy in the end. You can take a lot of valuable ideas about this at mobilehomelife.org

The coziness of the house is also very influenced by lighting. It took me a long time to figure out what was wrong with my room until I changed the color of the lighting and put in extra bedside lamps. You can find useful information and lighting ideas at https://myhomelamps.com/. The articles helped me a lot.
