Back to School for Tween/Teen Boys in 12 Items and a giveaway

Hubby is a procrastinator. I’m not saying anything he himself wouldn’t (proudly) admit to, but that’s the way he’s wired; he needs the stress of a deadline to motivate him. And when you’ve been with someone for 25 years as we have, you inevitably pick up some of the other’s habits – both good and bad. In my case, I’ve adopted some of his procrastinating ways, however unlike him, I don’t enjoy the undue stress I invariably cause myself every time. Each year as summer draws to an end and thoughts of the kiddies returning to school become more of a reality, I promise myself I’m going to be proactive; I’m going to go back-to-school shopping early, when the selection is still plentiful, the line ups are short and everyone is still in a “happy summer” frame of mind. And yet every year, I find myself pushing it off until the week before school, when the shelves are baron, the line ups seem to go out the door, and the blissful “happy summer” frame of mind is but a distant memory.
Imagine my glee when this year, Marshalls approached me to participate in a back-to-school campaign where I could go into one of their many locations and pick out back-to-school merchandise from their wide selection of designer brands. What do I get? School supplies? Backpacks? Clothing? Footwear? The possibilities were endless. Both hubby and I grew up in loving homes, but neither of our families had the extra income to afford designer brands. Now that we have our own family, we’re blessed that we can ‘afford’ to provide a little more for our children, but we have always tried to instill in them that material things are not what define you. Your true friends will be by your side whether you wear the latest fashion or hand-me-downs. Having said that, as parents, we also know how difficult these teen years can be – the insecurities that arise from it and the desire to be accepted as they discover who they are. So we strive to achieve a balance of providing them with those things that we couldn’t necessarily have while we grew up and giving them all they want, yet not becoming unappreciative of their blessings. backtoschoolteenboyoutfitscraftberrybush
Understatement of the year – going back-to-school shopping for your tween or teen is not easy. Their unique personalities can prove challenging and costly, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed this campaign. Not only does Marshalls offer a great selection, but many of the pieces are unique which is important for our sons. Couple this with them offering designer brands, but without designer prices and that is, in my opinion, the best of both worlds.     He loves to fish so anything about fishing on the shirts is a plus!

  17. Teen boys are definitely a challenge but shopping gives us “fun time” together!! I enjoy shopping with my son and it’s always interesting to see how his style changes as he gets older.

  32. My 1st grader’s school uses uniforms, which is a huge stress-saver, but we still need cute dresses, rompers, and play clothes for after school and weekend fun! I LOVE Marshalls and TJ Maxx for our clothes.

  42. My daughter is all about the comfort! She only wears comfy clothes and is liking more athletic type clothes. She loves the rockstar type clothes such as leather or jean jackets and loves leggings. She loves bright colors, especially pink!!

  66. I think my pre-teen son would like the same items you picked out! He’s really quite flexible when it comes to fashion, and generally hates clothes shopping enough to agree to whatever I want to dress him in (unless he REALLY hates it), just to get us out the door faster! LOL
