Hello friends. I hope you’ve been well. We’re only a couple of weeks away from some beautiful blooms but in the meantime, I want to show you
How to make paper cherry blossoms using a coffee filter.
I used to make beautiful paper flowers back in the day and we used dyed coffee filters.
You’re going to start with a regular coffee filter and soak it in red food dye. Unfortunately, the photo I took got deleted.
But once the filter is dry, it will look like this. The more food dye you use, the darker it will be.
I then use a simple petal shape and cut a bunch from the folded filter.
If you want the petals to be more realistic, you can use some chalk pastel and add a little bit of colour to the petal.
Next, you’re going to pinch the bottom of the petal and give it a little twist. Repeat to all the petals.
I made a little stamen using some of the coffee filter and then cutting little fringes, cutting it and painting it with some brown paint.
I then took the petals and glued them around the stamen. Once all the blossoms were done, I glued them onto a little branch and done.

Absolutely love this idea, Lucy! 🌸 Using coffee filters to make cherry blossoms is such a clever and budget-friendly way to bring spring vibes into the home—especially when the real ones aren’t blooming just yet. The dyed filters give such a soft, natural look, and the added detail with chalk pastels really makes each petal pop.
Also loved the tip about twisting the base of the petals—it adds such a realistic touch! Can’t wait to try this with my kids this weekend. Thanks for always sharing such beautiful and inspiring DIYs! 💕
