How to make artificial plants look more realistic

On this post, I will show you how to make artificial plants look more realistic with some of my favourite tips and tricks.

Hello friends. I hope you’re doing well. It’s usually during this time of year when I start to crave a little green and love to take visits to the
nursery to beat the winter blues. This year, I’m so excited to partner with my friends from Decors Veronneau, a  Canadian Company who carry the most beautiful and realistic looking artificial plants. Today I want to share how to make artificial plants look more realistic.

Let’s start with this gorgeous Acacia Tree 

Look at the trunk. It looks so realistic because it is. The tree is “handmade” in their warehouse with “recycled” tree trunks. They even place a little bit of moss for that extra touch!

Even though the tree looks beautiful as is, an easy way to elevate the look is by placing it into a larger pot. This beautiful planter is also from
Decor Veronneau and it can be used both inside and outside.


I used the packaging that the tree and the pot came wrapped in to fill in the bottom of the pot. I placed enough to lift the tree almost all the way to the top.

I then continued to filled it with more packaging until it was secured in place.

Once I was happy with the placement of the tree, I placed some of this beautiful textured faux moss all around.

And then you got this beautiful tree that makes such a huge impact in any room.


Here’s a close up so you can see how well it’s made. I’m so in love with it!

Next, I ordered these beautiful artificial pittosporum branches. 
These are also so realistic looking but in order to make them look even more realistic, I have a little tip.

Once you take them out of the packaging, the artificial branches are usually packed and don’t look as full. So the magic trick is to give them a little
blow out with a blow dryer. You can see the one on the left is straight from the package and the one on the right, has been given a little blow out.

Look how beautiful they look in this vase.  This is exactly what I needed to brighten up our living room as well as to keep me going through these gray winter days.
