I’m so pleased to be part of the 2013 Fall Tablescape Tour.
There are a number of talented individuals participating this year and I
would encourage you to visit them if you have not yet had the chance.
But before you do, I would love to share what has to-date been
the most challenging tablescape I have put together. Not because
it’s super fancy or creative, but because of the weather.
A few weeks ago when I first learned I was going to be one
of the 20 bloggers sharing their tablescape, I was obviously
excited, but thought I had a lot of time to come up with something.
I wasn’t sure what I would prepare, but as we had already celebrated
(Canadian) Thanksgiving and Halloween was around the corner, I
was beginning to transition out of ‘fall’ mode and into Christmas.
But as the days went by and the deadline approached,
I decided it was still appropriate to prepare a fall table.
All I needed was the perfect sunny day to snap some photos.
And so I waited, and waited, and waited.
But the sunny day never came.
In my desperate attempt to take photos, I even asked hubby to
move our dining room table into the kitchen, where we typically
receive a little more natural light. But even the re-location did
nothing to enhance the lighting for my photos and so I begrudgingly
decided to take photos with the lights on. Doing so tends to give the
photos a yellowish tint, as seen in the photo above and below.
Changing the white balance on the camera provided a soft warm feel
to the photos, but I was still not satisfied and made the executive
decision to wait another day. And those days came, and still no sunshine.
That brings me to the day the post was due, when the sun teased with a few
minutes of sunshine here and there, and I was able to take some ok photos.
Look closely and you’ll notice some of the photos have crystals, while others
don’t. That’s because the photos were taken over a couple of days
and in the world of ‘me’, things change daily, including my displays.
I did keep this centrepiece as a constant though as I love
the gray neutral tones of the pumpkins, the squash and
the dusty miller. Such an easy centrepiece to put together.
I also utilized bleached pine cones
(you can learn how to make your own here)
So this is the story of my most difficult tablescape.
Admittedly, more frustrating than difficult, but it goes to show you
need time, effort, and most importantly, sunshine to make a post.

This is just amazing and so beautiful! I think it’s amazing how you kind of incorporated a little bit of Christmas with the pine cones and the greenery and a little bit of Fall together to create a beautiful table! Did you already have the sheet music, or is there a place to purchase these? I do have some vintage sheet music I suppose I could use, but I really don’t want to tear them out……just wondering.

This is a beautiful table, full of Fall, but with unexpected elements. The bleached pine cones and the sheet music make the tablescape fresh, but the best fresh element is the Dusty Miller mixed with the white pumpkins. Such stunning arrangement of whites/neutrals for a Fall setting.
