There is an unmistakable feeling to a Sunday afternoon.
It’s a battle between the calmness of the weekend and the dread that
there are only a few hours remaining before Monday arrives.
It’s a battle between the calmness of the weekend and the dread that
there are only a few hours remaining before Monday arrives.
Today however, it’s a Sunday of a long weekend; the long
weekend that marks the unofficial end of Summer. Similarly,
today I bask in the last few hours of the summer break freedom
as we await the monotonous rhythm of routine that is to come.
Don’t get me wrong. I am looking forward to getting back
into certain routines. Like being able to workout in the mornings
and reacquaint myself with this little blog and all of you again.
Speaking of reacquainting, I dug out some of our fall decor this
weekend and came across last year’s fall wreath. I updated it a little by adding
new hydrangeas and replacing the dried roses with drop cloth ones.
(I will have a tutorial on how to make them)
I also added more drop cloth oak leaves and a some stalks of wheat…
I love rediscovering items and giving them a new life by
changing a thing here and there, or even just using them in a different
place. I think this wreath certainly says fall in a softer way.
I’m getting excited about decorating for fall.
Are you? Are you still looking for inspiration?
Well, some of my friends and I have gotten together to help you along.
Beginning September 9th, we will be sharing some beautiful fall decor ideas with you.

I am so looking forward to fall! Somehow I get very crafty and into sprucing up my home before we all settle in for the winter. (Ours is long and cold!)
Season’s of the home sounds like a good place to start. 😀 (and maybe a new wreath. . .) You’ve got me thinking.

Hi Lucy! I made my best friend (married 9-15-12) this wreath from the hydrangeas and roses in the bouquets of her wedding party. It was a hit and your easy instructions made it a no brainer to recreate! Unfortunately, she wants to keep it for this season and more to come. I have looked at shadow boxes to hold it permanently and they take away from the whimsy and tactical beauty that are in all of your creations. Do you have any ideas or blogs to help me find a solution for her?
Thanks for all of your design knowledge and tutorials! -Maggie
